This story was edited on June 9 to correct errors made by Bellingham Alive staff. There was not a change in ownership at Boundary Bay Brewing Company, and Madison Pugmire and Connor Cottrill are not married. Bellingham Alive apologizes deeply for the error.
Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro lived on Railroad Avenue in Bellingham until late September of last year. Ed Bennett and Janet Lightner, the owners of the company, had to close the location after their lease wasn’t renewed and their offer to buy the building was rejected. Boundary Bay Brewing Company is opening its new, smaller location in the old Time and Materials space on North State Street, named Boundary on State. It will include a rotating food menu and a nanobrewery with signature cocktails, wine, cider, and Boundary Bay beers.

The original Boundary Bay Brewing Company location was home to a bistro, brewery, and taproom for 30 years and was a place of endless laughter, award-winning beer, lots of community, and delicious food. Connor Cottrill began working at Boundary Bay in 2016 and will continue to work as the brewer. Madison Pugmire, Janet’s daughter, will continue to work as the restaurant manager.
Boundary on State will officially open for business on June 10. Currently, you can find Boundary Bay’s beer at local pubs, restaurants, and grocery stores. Make sure to keep an eye on their website for any other updates! bbaybrewery.com
