You’re all about using makeup to enhance natural beauty. What does that mean to you?
Enhancing natural beauty means taking the features you already have and not trying to make them look like someone else’s by concealing them with makeup. It means letting the features of your face shine through by using makeup that fits your face and unique features.
What are some ways to avoid unnatural looking makeup? Any tricks or tips?
Always make sure your face makeup matches your neck! You can do a simple patch test on your neck to make sure. I also recommend blending and then blending some more. You want to avoid any harsh lines.
What’s an easy-to-fix mistake you see a lot of people make in their beauty routine?
The first thing that pops in my head is neglect of skincare, specifically when it comes to exfoliating. The more work you put into your skincare, the less makeup you’ll need to wear. You have to start with a good base, and exfoliating one or two times a week will make all the difference in the texture and look of your skin. I recommend the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment.
What makeup trends and colors are you excited about this fall?
I’m excited to play around with fun and bold eyeliner! If you are looking for a great bold eyeliner, the NYX Matte Liquid Eyeliners are perfect and come in a wide selection. Really glossy lips for fall are also in, and who doesn’t love some good gloss?
Any new products you’re excited about?
I’m always trying new products — it’s one of my favorite things to do! I have been loving the Elta MD Tinted Sunscreen. It’s so important to wear sunscreen everyday — yes, even here in Washington! This sunscreen is nice and light but still adds coverage.
