Alveare is a wonderful winery run by a young couple in Carnation, Washington. This Bordeaux-style red blend pays homage to the pollinators they care for on the property. Consisting of 30% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot, 25% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a bold red that has had a couple of years to rest in the bottle so it is ready to drink—we recommend decanting before drinking to help mellow the tannins. Expect notes of dark fruit, such as blackberries and plums, a touch of mint, and a slight earthiness.
