The Whatcom Humane Society (WHS) is hosting several events through February and March that you won’t want to miss! All money raised through the events will provide care to animals in Whatcom and allow for the organization to continue essential programs.
First up is the My Furry Valentine Photo Contest, which is open now and runs through February 28. To enter, register at gogophotocontest, submit your most beloved animal photos, and vote for your favorites! Categories include cutest, oldest, and happiest pets. Winners will be announced March 5. The best part? Every entry and vote raises money to support rescue services, education, spay and neuter, and general operations at WHS.
Next up is a virtual Birdhouse Auction that will run from March 21-31. One hundred birdhouses, designed and decorated by local artists and volunteers, will be featured and auctioned off. All proceeds will support the WHS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
Finally, if you’re free from 6 – 7 p.m. on March 18, pop into the Woof & Whiskers Virtual Yappy Hour Celebration. The event will honor three local organizations committed to protecting and improving the lives of animals in the local community: Tails-A-Wagging Doggie Day Care & Canine Training Center, Dr. Christine Monrow from Rescue Pet Vet, and the Lummi Natural Resources Enforcement. Attendance is free, but be sure to register and purchase a beverage and snack pack!
Consider showing some love by participating in these events, donating online, or volunteering your time. Nonprofits need your support, as do our local animals!
