Remember summers spent as a kid? Riding bikes, running lemonade stands, going to summer camps, and chasing after the ice cream man? While you may have outgrown some of those summer fun activities, it never hurts to create new and exciting memories with your family!

July

26th: Reptile Man

It’s the well-known reptile man from Monroe, Wash.! He’s bringing his various reptiles and critters to the Burlington Public Library at 11:00 a.m. Bring the kids and spend an hour learning about the importance of these animals in our ecosystems. Find more information here!

29th: Outdoor Cinema – Willy Wonka (1971)

The outdoor movie is the ultimate childhood summer fun activity! Catching a flick under the stars, wrapped up in blankets and enjoying a bag of candy is the perfect way to spend your Saturday evening with the family. Head to the Fairhaven Village Green to get the best spot at 7:15 p.m. and participate in the Outdoor Cinema’s very own Chocolate Game Show at 8:00 p.m. For more information, click here.

31st: All Comers Track & Field

Head out to Civic Field in Bellingham for an evening of athletics that the entire family can participate! From hurdling events for toddlers, to pole vaulting and shot put, this track and field event has something for runners of all skill levels. 3rd: Noise Guy

If your child absolutely loves having stories read to them, you won’t want to miss this reading from The Noise Guy at the Burlington Public Library. Starting at 11:00 a.m., The Noise Guy will read from children’s books and bring them to life with his animated sound effects. Parents might even enjoy it more than the kids! 5th: Kid’s Fest

Kid’s Fest will have you feeling nostalgic as ever. This event is the ultimate field day with tons of things to do ranging from face painting, bouncy houses, magicians, balloon artists, and more! From 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. you can expect a smile on your and your child’s face at all hours. More details about this event can be found here.

6th: Bellingham Youth Triathlon

Sign your little one up for their first ever triathlon hosted at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center! The race begins at 8:00 a.m. and will feature a running, swimming, and biking portion. 12th: Teen Theater Workshop: Creative Commercials

Kids ages 11 to 17 are invited to spend a day in the Lightcatcher Studio at the Whatcom Museum. This theater workshop will promote creativity for those interested in the production of video commercials and promoting and branding items. Click here for more information.

20th: WHS Annual Dog Days of Summer Festival

This one is for the entire family: kids, parents, and pets! The Whatcom Humane Society is hosting this dog-friendly event at Lake Padden Park from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for pet owners to bring their furry friends to. Play games with your dog, get caricature drawings of them, as well as learn and shop from booths all around the park! Click here for more information.

26th: 2017 Wondermud – Benefiting Lydia Place

Participate in this 1.75 mile mud course for the opportunity to benefit Lydia Place this summer. Bring the family and get dirty while overcoming tough obstacles and running through muddy waters!
