Local ingredients, organic flour, whole grains. Those are core to the goods made at Main Street Bread in Ferndale. The shop, located next to a gorgeous painted mural, focuses on serving the local community the best that the area has to offer.
The owners, Josh and Erika, started out from the back of their minivan while raising a newborn. The demand for affordable baked goods in the neighborhood opened an unexpected door, and they took that chance to open up Main Street Bread in February of 2026.

From flavorful sourdough to buttery croissants (and a large selection of sweet treats), Main Street Bread offers the neighborhood in Ferndale a hearty selection of items to buy, including baker-favorite orange knots, a baked orange pastry. One of the best parts about starting Main Street Bread is how it helps foster a stronger local community.
“We’ve loved creating a cozy, welcoming space where our community can gather and share in our love for all things bread and pastry,” says Erika.

The bakery works with local ingredient producers, such as Fairhaven Mills in Burlington, to get ingredients they need, plus organic flour from places like Central Milling.

Main Street Bread bakes its daily menu fresh each morning, and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 8 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday.
