A mecca for hard-to-find Washington wines!
The Shop
Compass Wines opened its door 11 years ago on Commercial Avenue in Anacortes. The owners have about 16,000 bottles of wine in stock and constantly taste wines to find others they would like to carry. If the shop doesn’t have a particular wine a customer is looking for, they can get it, owner Will Parks says, but in most cases, Compass has the wine the customer desires.
Atmosphere
Spacious, tranquil and accommodating.
Key People
Co-owners Doug Charles, a former restaurateur, and Will Parks, a Seattle businessman, bring different, complementary, aspects to Compass Wines. Will says Doug is the frontman for the wine while he works behind the scenes making sure the business runs smoothly. Haley, the shop dog, greets customers on their way into the store and often receives treats customers buy for her, Will says.
What You’ll Find
Rare, limited-production Washington wines and hard-to get wines from around the world. They are most famous for carrying Leonetti Cellar wines produced by the Figgins Family Wine Estates in Walla Walla. They also carry a vast selection of Quilceda Creek wines.
