October Speaker Topic: “Iris—A Flower for All Seasons” with Patrick Spence of Cascadia Iris Gardens.

The October 1, 2025 meeting of the Birchwood Garden Club will be held in the Rotunda Room of the Old City Hall Museum, 121 Prospect St., Bellingham, WA 98225. Doors open at 6:30 PM.

The speaker for the evening will be Patrick Spence of Cascadia Iris Gardens in Lake Stevens, Washington. His presentation is titled, “Iris—A Flower for All Seasons.”

Patrick and Margaret Spence began collecting Iris in 2004. Their collection grew so quickly that they opened Cascadia Iris Gardens in 2008 on a 1-acre property. By 2011 they needed a larger property and found a site with a suitable three acres. Patrick hybridizes Japanese iris and Sino-Siberian iris. Besides growing a number of unique irises, Patrick and Margaret continue to develop their display gardens.
