Event page: https://fb.me/e/49hYl4Asy
Bring your family and friends for this community picnic! Enjoy live Funk, Soul, R&B, Reggae music, dance performances, community step, art wall, local organizations tabling, and more.

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. It was on June 19th, 1865 that Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Juneteenth Celebrations are a positive platform for encouraging the acceptance of diversity and offer an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the sacrifices and challenges Enslaved Africans endured to achieve freedom.

This event is free and open to the public. ASL interpreting will be provided on request (please let us know by June 10th), and drop-ins are welcome.

Maritime Heritage Park is wheelchair accessible, and members of the Juneteenth 2023 planning committee will be available for any questions or accommodation requests from the community.
