This weekend, nearly a hundred adoptable cats and kittens will arrive in Bellingham from Hearts Alive Village rescue in Las Vegas. Thanks to a partnership between Good Flights, which is part of Greater Good Charities, and iHeartCats.com, these cats will be even closer to finding forever homes here in the Pacific Northwest.
Why so many cats? The pandemic has created a financial crisis in Las Vegas, and many families have been forced to surrender their pets. As a result, charities and rescues are working harder than ever to find pets a loving home and keep shelters from becoming overcrowded.
Once on the ground in Bellingham, Embrace a Discarded Animal Society — a Canadian charity that operates a rescue ranch in Blaine — will receive the cats. All animals on the flight have been checked out by a vet but will receive additional evaluation and care from the Society before being put up for adoption.
