DESCRIPTION:For September Art Walk Make.Shift Gallery has teamed up with Ketchup + Mustard to\nhost “This Little Piggy…” Ketchup + Mustard is kick ass team of branding\, graphic design\, and marketing pros who appreciate\, encourage\, and support art & artists throughout Bellingham. It’s likely you’ve seen some of their work around town and you can learn more about them at ketchup-and-mustard.com\nThe wonderful folks at Ketchup + Mustard provided Make.Shift with 40 ceramic piggy banks. Donations will go towards long overdue upgrades to the Make.Shift space\, including a new front door ramp. The pig with the most donations will win a special “Best in Show” prize. The lovely designers at Ketchup + Mustard will be dressing up a big ol’ pig to house large donations.\nThe opening will be on Art Walk Friday\, September 6th from 6-10pm. For more information about the Art Walk or Make.Shift please visit our website at makeshiftproject.com or contact Gallery Director\, Jessyca Murphy\, at gallery@makeshiftproject.com.

SUMMARY:Chanting for Transformation
DESCRIPTION:Mantra is a ritualized form of singing where a particular intention is held and a particular state is invoked. Mantras have been used for thousands of years by many cultures across human history. The Vedic sciences are one of the most ardent and consistent users of mantra. Mantra is done for a purpose and is sacred. Mantras should never be done casually or irreverently\, and students benefit most by having a teacher initiate them into the use of mantra. \nJoin us in chanting Vedic sanskrit mantras for the sheer joy of it—as well as the transformation that they bring. \nInstruction will be provided.\nBeginners are encouraged.\nDrop-ins are welcome.\n$10.00 suggested donation. \nfacebook.com

SUMMARY:Aura Photos by Charles Crooks
DESCRIPTION:What do you radiate? \nFind out all about the energy that surrounds your body by getting your aura photographed with intuitive energy coach\, Charles Crooks. \nWhy should you even care about your aura?\nEvery day\, with every activity we do\, and every person we come in contact with\, our energy changes. Our body emits our own energetic field\, or aura\, that constantly surrounds us. Being aware of your aura gives you a sense of the energy you’re sending out at that moment. By paying attention to your energy\, you can use this information to help navigate your decisions. \nHow does it work?\nBy placing your hand on a sensor that reads your electromagnetic field\, the vibrations it picks up are translated into colors around the body. Depending which color shows in which position\, the image then can be interpreted to give you insight into your energetic self in that moment. \nThe details!\nSaturday\, September 14 11:00-5:00pm at Wise Awakening\, downtown Bellingham. 314 E Holly St. #101 $35 for a 10 minute session.\nYou get:\nA 4×6 printed photo\, an interpretation of your energy by Charles\, a personalized affirmation based on your photo\, and a 14 page generated PDF report email to you. The report gives you even deeper information into your energy\, and information about your personality color. \nAs the venue is downtown on a Saturday (same as Farmer’s Market) please give ample time for parking. \nREADY TO SIGN UP?:\nCall or visit Wise Awakening to reserve your spot!! 360-756-8075\n314 E Holly St. #101 Bellingham\, WA

SUMMARY:Luke Plumb in Concert with special guest Stanley Greenthal
DESCRIPTION:Luke has a mastery of the mandolin – and we get to hear it in its own right as a lead instrument. Right up there with the very top exponents of mandolining\, he puts a drive and feeling into the tunes which allow a range of expressive tones and shades.” – The Living Tradition magazine\, Scotland\nHailing from Tasmania\, Australia\, mandolin virtuoso\, multi-instrumentalist\, composer and producer Luke Plumb comes to the Firehouse Arts & Events Center in Bellingham. Through his work with Shooglenifty (renowned Scottish “acid croft” folk band)\, Irish folk legend Andy Irvine (Patrick Street/Planxy/Mozaik)\, and many collaborations in Australia have made him a driving force on the acoustic music global stage. During his 10 year tenure with Shooglenifty\, Luke’s original tunes and arrangements dominated the band’s repertoire. His 2009 solo album\, A Splendid Notion\, features just mandolin and percussion. Recent recording collaborations with Andy Irvine (2016 Precious Heroes)\, and Kate Burke (2019 duo album of groove-based interpretations of traditional folk songs) have gotten rave reviews. In 2018 with his new band\, Luke Plumb & the Circuit\, he released Turn & ReTurn\, which features mandolin\, trumpet\, and driving guitars\, bass and drums\, and draws on sounds from Crete and the Rolling Stones\, to create a new music melding folk\, ethnic traditions\, rock and jazz. “Enough imagination and innovation to inspire a new generation … folk music of breathtaking originality.” Bruce Elder – The Age/SMH \nAccompanying Luke on his Northwest tour is Seattle and Lopez Island’s Stanley Greenthal (guitar\, bouzouki and vocals). Greenthal is an internationally acclaimed songwriter and instrumentalist who stretches musical borders from Scotland\, Ireland\, Brittany\, Greece\, and the Balkans. Stanley and Luke met years ago while teaching and performing at ZoukFest\, the first international gathering of bouzouki players\, which evolved into an innovative World Music Camp\, held most recently in Albuquerque\, New Mexico. Their musical friendship and collaboration continues\, with this opportunity to play their arrangements of traditional and original music for audiences in the Northwest. \nYouTube: youtube.com\nlukeplumb.com
