SUMMARY:Birchwood Garden Club's March 4th Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Birchwood Garden Club \nEstablished 1931-Bellingham\, Washington\nPlanting Seeds of Friendship throughout our Community \nMarch Topic:\nGardening for Fragrance with Diana Wisen \nThe March 4\, 2026 meeting of the Birchwood Garden Club will be held in the Rotunda Room of the Old City Hall Museum\, 121 Prospect St.\, Bellingham\, WA 98225. Doors open at 6:30 PM. \nThe speaker will be Diana Wisen\, a WSU Extension Master\nGardener since 1991\, speaking on Gardening for Fragrance. \nSometimes we forget to consider scent when we select plants for our gardens. Fragrance can bring an added dimension to the color and texture of our garden beds. Neuroscientists consider the sense of smell to be important to our enjoyment of life because it enhances our experience of taste\, can trigger memories\, and can change our mood and emotions. Diana will introduce us to many plants\, which can add scent to our gardens. At the end of her talk\, she will provide us with a\nlist of plants – trees\, shrubs\, herbs\, flowers\, all kinds of plants – to which we can refer to bring scent into our gardens. Please join us! \nBirchwood Garden Club membership is open to anyone in Whatcom or Skagit Counties. You are invited to join us at our monthly meetings where we will have membership brochures to join. Check out our website\, www.birchwoodgardenclub.org to see the fun activities and community services our club does! You can also join us on Instagram and Facebook @ Birchwood Garden Club.

SUMMARY:The Plight of a Woman
DESCRIPTION:The Plight of A Woman is a powerful international tour by multidisciplinary artist and cultural storyteller Helen Masvikeni opening at New Prospect Theater on Sunday\, Feb 22nd\, at 2pm.Through a dynamic blend of narrative\, movement\, music\, and visual storytelling\, this experience examines the forces that shape identity\, expectation\, voice\, and liberation—rooted in Zimbabwean culture yet resonating with all people. \nWhile centered on the lived realities traditionally carried by women\, the work opens an expansive conversation about the cultural roles\, pressures\, and inherited stories that shape us all. It is a call to reflect on the systems we participate in\, the histories we inherit\, and the collective responsibility we hold in\, imagining something more just\, compassionate\, and free. \nDesigned for universities\, global studies programs\, cultural centers\, and arts organizations\, The Plight of A Woman is part performance\, part lecture\, part communal gathering. It invites audiences not only to witness a narrative—but to locate themselves within it. Participants leave inspired to engage\, to question\, and to carry the conversation forward into their communities\, classrooms\, and personal lives. \nContact Dan Coffey at (360) 296-3825 \nTix at https://tadpoleproductions.thundertix.com/events/258146

DESCRIPTION:February 20\, 21\, 27\, 28 7:30 performances\nFebruary 22nd and March 1st 2:00 performances\nTicket through McIntyre Hall Box Office 360-416-7727 or Ticketing.mcintyrehall.org \nRodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration remains\, in many ways\, their most innovative\, setting the standards and rules of modern musical theatre. In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century\, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly\, a charming cowboy\, and Laurey\, a feisty farm girl\, to play out their love story. Their romantic journey\, as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road\, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie and hapless Will Parker in a musical adventure embracing hope\, determination and the promise of a new land.

SUMMARY:Provenance Tales of Three French Paintings from the National Gallery of Art
DESCRIPTION:https://www.whatcommuseum.org/event/how-they-got-here-provenance-tales-of-three-french-paintings/ \nHave you ever wondered how an artwork ends up in a museum? Provenance\, or the history of an object’s ownership\, can offer us a fascinating insight into the social environment in which art is made\, sold\, collected\, displayed\, valued—and sometimes stolen. Margaret Doyle\, head of Curatorial Records at the National Gallery of Art will join us at the Whatcom Museum to recount the twists and turns in the journeys of three paintings by Auguste Renoir\, Paul Cézanne\, and Henri Matisse\, from their creation in France to their final stop as part of the National Gallery’s permanent collection in Washington\, DC. The provenances of these paintings include a memorable set of characters and situations\, with stories encompassing artistic friendship\, influential French dealers\, notable women collectors\, a prominent American statesman\, and Nazi confiscation and postwar restitution. \nThis talk is made possible by the National Gallery’s “Across the Nation” program\, which is sharing cherished works with regional 10 regional museums around the United States\, including ours. These paintings by Renoir\, Cézanne\, and Matisse are on view now in Verdant: French Masterworks from the National Gallery of Art. \nThis event is free to attend\, but advance registration is required.
