SUMMARY:Phantom of the Opera
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, October 10 at 7:00 p.m.\, the Concrete Theatre invites you to travel back in time—exactly 100 years—to the night when The Phantom of the Opera first appeared on our screen. Released in 1925\, and shown in this very Theatre that same year\, this silent masterpiece still casts its eerie spell a century later.\nStarring the incomparable Lon Chaney\, “the man of a thousand faces\,” the film shocked audiences with his now-legendary transformation into the Phantom\, a figure as tragic as he is terrifying. With lavish sets\, a cast of thousands\, and a story that unfolds in the shadows of the Paris Opera House\, The Phantom of the Opera helped define horror cinema and continues to mesmerize to this day.\nThis isn’t just a movie night—it’s a piece of living history in the place where it first haunted audiences in 1925. Step into the past\, feel the chill of the Phantom’s presence\, and celebrate 100 years of movie magic\, mystery\, and madness here at the historic Concrete Theatre.\nArrive by 6:30 to be part of the pre-movie discussion. What was it like to live in Concrete when this movie played here in 1925? Has this horror film contributed to the haunting of the Concrete Theatre? Let us tell you a few stories about what we’ve seen and heard here!\nEach guest receives free “Phantom Popcorn”—a mysterious mix of our classic theater popcorn\, sweet M&Ms\, and ghostly mini marshmallows. Each bite conjures up the magic and mischief of the century-old silent classic.

SUMMARY:BEFORE US
DESCRIPTION:BEFORE US\, Kuntz and Company’s newest work\, is a dance theatre piece exploring how we navigate\, manage\, and survive what is to come with grace and humility. Not as merely spectators of our lives\, the performers dive into images of what came before and what is coming next while engaging in a journey across the stage. Ian Bivins\, Cara Congelli\, Atlas Hovdesven\, Ingrid Hurlen\, and Pam Kuntz have discovered community\, relationships\, and humor are at the core of both the stories shared and their creative process. With Richard Scholtz’s recordings of sounds of the world adding layers of humanity to the score\, BEFORE US is a playful release of frustrations and fears while traveling into a glorious win…the win we all really need right now. \nAt The Firehouse Arts and Events Center October 9\, 10 @ 7:30 and Oct 11\, 12 @ 5:00.

SUMMARY:Fairhaven Summer Repertory Theatre
DESCRIPTION:In Search of a Common Language\nTHE FOREIGNER\nTHE LANGUAGE ARCHIVE\nTRANSLATIONS \nThis Summer\, Bellingham Theatreworks will produce three award winning and thought-provoking plays written by authors who explore how language can both set us apart and bring us together. \nAudience members will experience the intimacy of being in the round at the Firehouse Arts and Events Center\, sitting with the actors while they explore a hilarious satire\, a lyric look at the past\, and a heartfelt comic hug. All three plays have multiple scenes where the characters desperately want to communicate with each other but are faced with a language barrier. This summer’s offerings promise to explore how language is deeply aligned with culture and identity\, and how it can lead to unexpected interpersonal challenges. \nOur company combines many members of the community: students and educators\, parents and children\, as well as guest artists from far beyond Bellingham Bay\, all working together to bring these three plays to life. \nJune 24 – July 20\, 2025\nSix nights a week: Tuesday – Saturday @ 7:30\, Sunday @ 5:00\nwww.BellinghamTheatreWorks.org\nGeneral $25/Students $20\nSeason Tickets $60\nCall 360-389-2835 for information\, ticketing and disability accommodation
