DESCRIPTION:Great views\, fresh air\, tough climbs. Ascend 4\,462 feet from Chair 9 in Glacier to Artist Point (5\,140 feet elevation) in approximately 22 miles. The Mt. Baker Highway (SR542) is known as one of the most scenic paved roads in the country and rarely is the highway closed to motorized vehicles from Glacier to Artist Point. With steep elevation and several switchbacks\, this ride is not for the faint of heart\, but the views are stunning. Experience the agony and the ecstasy! \nThis is a timed event. 1st female and male of each age division registered in the Competitive Division\, receive a custom Voler Winners Jersey and 1st – 3rd of each division receive a locally produced medal. \nThe race begins at MP 35\, 1/4 mile east of the check-in at Chair 9 Pizza & Bar. \nSocial: 7:00 AM\nRecreational: 8:00 AM\nCompetitive: 8:30 AM\nEnd time: 12:00pm (road closed until noon) \nAll start lines begin at Snowater Road\, just east of Glacier\, WA. Parking is available at the Chair 9 restaurant. All vehicles will need to have a NW Forest Pass ($5) to park at Artist Point. \nAnyone over the age of 13 can participate in the Mt. Baker Hill Climb. DESCRIPTION:The Jr. Ski to Sea has been a beloved community event since its inception in the 1980’s. After a 3-year hiatus\, Whatcom Events assumed ownership of the race and reinvented the course to mimic the Big Race. The Jr. Ski to Sea Race is a youth (Grades 3 – 12) relay race that consists of skiing or snowboarding\, running\, mountain biking\, and kayaking. The first leg will commence at the Heather Meadows Base area at Mt. Baker Highway (SR542) is known as one of the most scenic paved roads in the country and rarely is the highway closed to motorized vehicles from Glacier to Artist Point. With steep elevation and several switchbacks\, this ride is not for the faint of heart\, but the views are stunning. Experience the agony and the ecstasy!\nThis is a timed event. 1st female and male of each age division registered in the Competitive Division\, receive a custom Voler Winners Jersey and 1st – 3rd of each division receive a locally produced medal. \nThe race begins at MP 35\, 1/4 mile east of the check-in at Chair 9 Pizza & Bar.\nSocial: 7:00 AM \nRecreational: 8:00 AM \nCompetitive: 8:30 AM \nEnd time: 12:00pm (road closed until noon) \nAll start lines begin at Snowater Road\, just east of Glacier\, WA. DESCRIPTION:SIMA (Sumas International Motorsports Academy) is very excited to offer the sixth annual New Junior Driver Program! Tryouts will be held March 1st\, 2020 from 9am to 4pm. \nBy winning one of the ten scholarships\, your child will be offered a complete racing kart package\, racewear\, consumables and general maintenance to use in the SIMA Summer Series and practice sessions. \nRegistration fees for the 6 races and 10 practice sessions are $750 plus taxes. No refunds will be granted for missed races and sessions. Price includes an insurance wrist band for drivers only. \nPlease read the following information before proceeding: \n-The shootout will be rescheduled in case of rain.\n-A couple of weeks prior to the shootout\, you will receive a confirmation email with your appointed day and time slot.\n-Each driver must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.\n-Drivers must be between the ages of 5-7 years old between the months of April to October of 2020.\n-The driver must not have any kart racing experience.\n-Shoot out is free. $10 insurance wrist band is applicable to driver and accompanied family members. \nWe appreciate the interest in our program and invite you to contact us if you have any further questions regarding the shoot out or the racing program itself. The first scrimmage will consist of beginner / intermediate skaters and the second scrimmage will be the intermediate / advanced level skaters from Bellingham and other surrounding areas. Doors open at 4:45pm and the first whistle is at 5:30 pm. Suggested donation of $5 and there will also be a 50/50 raffle so you can gear up on all your favorite Betties merchandise for the upcoming Season 13.
