SUMMARY:SOS - Signs of Strength
DESCRIPTION:“SOS – SIGNS OF STRENGTH”\nA film by The Diavolo Veterans Project: \nSigns of Strength emerge through acts of resilience\, courage\, and human connection in the context of a moving and emotionally gripping performance by military veterans and civilian dancers. The choreography explores the journey of soldiers facing adversity\, highlighting their ability to find unity and meaning through individual feats and collective support. The “signs” are not physical objects but rather the embodiment of these qualities in the performance\, as the dancers navigate a dynamic set and physical challenges. \n*POST SCREENING CONVERSATION*\nBellingham’s very own Janet Ott will be leading a zoom conversation with with Christopher Loverro\, member of Diavolo’s Veterans Project and France Nguyen Vincent\, dramaturg for Diavolo’s Veteran’s project. \nFirehouse Arts and Events Center\n1314 Harris Avenue\nDecember 14th @ 3:00\nkuntzandco.org for tix

SUMMARY:An evening of Dance Short Films
DESCRIPTION:Documenting Grace\nAn evening of shorts\nJanuary 11\, 2026 @ 3:00\nFirehouse Arts and Events Center\nkuntzandco.orgSponsored by CASCADIA INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL \nDANCING IN SILK – Since the early 1990s\, the art of Khmer classical ballet has found a new life in the ethnic neighborhood of Cambodia Town in Long Beach\, California with the passion of Sophiline Cheam Shapiro\, master dancer and survivor of the Khmer Rouge genocide. Today\, it is up to Khannia Ok\, her protégé\, to transmit this knowledge to a new generation of Cambodian-Americans\, especially young girls\, who grew up far from their roots. \nBLIND DANCER – We follow Lisa a blind librarian (Oslo) as she travels to dance with Europe’s only professional blind dancer\, Said Gharbi\, (Brussels). The two of them meet and make a duet over two weeks and on the last night they dance through the city of Brussels. \nFROM THERE TO HERE – The film follows the women who lead Kolkata Sanved: a nonprofit in Kolkata\, India\, that uses dance as a means to help survivors of human trafficking\, domestic violence\, and other forms of abuse\, “release trauma\, develop confidence\, and identify their own potentials as human beings—rather than as victims.”
