The two of them meet and make a duet over two weeks and on the last night they dance through the city of Brussels. \nFROM THERE TO HERE – The film follows the women who lead Kolkata Sanved: a nonprofit in Kolkata\, India\, that uses dance as a means to help survivors of human trafficking\, domestic violence\, and other forms of abuse\, “release trauma\, develop confidence\, and identify their own potentials as human beings—rather than as victims.”

SUMMARY:THE SEA
DESCRIPTION:Kuntz and Company presents DOCUMENTING GRACE – a film series showcasing the work of dance artists going beyond the stage. The first film in the 2025/26 season is THE SEA\, created by Douglas Rosenberg. The Sea traces the imprints of aging on body and soul\, weaving a poetic dance of time and movement as it explores men’s evolving relationships with solitude\, intimacy\, and community. The Sea is a black-and-white feature filmed entirely on location along the Baltic Sea. Drawing inspiration from the evocative landscapes of Ingmar Bergman’s Fårö Island\, the film explores aging and the intimate relationships between men in their later years. Featuring a cast of predominantly untrained performers from the Fårö area\, The Sea reflects on camaraderie and the ways life’s experiences leave their marks on our bodies\, expressed through movement and the passage of time. November 2nd @ 3:00\, The Firehouse Arts and Events Center @ 1314 Harris Avenue in Fairhaven. For accommodations and information contact Pam @ kuntzpam@gmail.com or 360-510-4711. SUMMARY:Altan
DESCRIPTION:The Lincoln Theatre and Celtic Arts Foundation are proud to present Altan. \nWith a career in Irish music over for 35 years\, Altan has achieved legendary status in a genre that has been equally shaped by the band’s influence and genius. Audiences from Ireland to Japan to Australia to Europe have embraced their heartwarming\, dynamic live performances and their exquisitely produced\, award-winning recordings. Over a dozen releases to date\, ranging from the most touching old Irish songs to hard-hitting reels and jigs. Altan’s newest release\, Donegal\, follows their acclaimed albums The Gap of Dreams and The Widening Gyre. \nAdding to their long list of awards and honors\, fiddler\, singer and founding member Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh was the recipient of the Gradam Ceoil/Traditional Musician of the Year in 2017. Though the band received the same award for Band of the Year in 2001\, Mairéad was glad to be recognized on her own in a genre that has been slow to recognize female musicians. She is only the third woman in twenty years to receive the main award. \nThe seeds of Altan lie in the music and spontaneity of sessions in kitchens and pubs in their hometown of Donegal\, where their music was heard in an atmosphere of respect and intimacy. It is here that the band’s heart still lies\, whether they are performing on TV in Australia or jamming with Ricky Skaggs on the west coast of the United States. In spite of a hectic touring and recording schedule\, Altan continue fresh in their vision of bringing the beauty and joy of traditional music to audiences everywhere\, and have always promised themselves to continue as long as it’s fun — fortunately\, it still is!

DESCRIPTION:Mount Vernon Library Foundation presents An Evening with Daniel James Brown. \nJoin the Mount Vernon Library Foundation for our second annual author event and support exciting library programs for the entire community. The library is open and paid for but the Foundation needs help to continue supporting the programs that make it extraordinary. \nDaniel James Brown is the author of The Boys In the Boat\, about the University of Washington rowing team during the Olympics in 1936\, and more recently\, Facing the Mountain: A True Story of Japanese American Heroes in World War II\, which introduces us to the Japanese Americans who fought in a special unit during WWII while many of their family members were incarcerated in detention camps. He’ll talk about both books\, how they are related\, and how he came to write them. \nBoth of these books will be available for purchase at the event\, courtesy of Seaport Books of LaConner. Looking to reserve one in advance? You can call Seaport at (360)399-1800 or email them at seaportbooksllc@gmail.com — they will hold your book for pickup or bring it to the event for you! \nThe Foundation will feature a free showing of the movie adaptation of The Boys In the Boat sometime in early March (details coming soon).
