SUMMARY:Folk Club at The Blue Room featuring | Sweater Weather String Band\, Andy Bunn
DESCRIPTION:Sweater Weather String Band \nWith members drawn together from all across the Salish Sea by a mutual love of traditional music and knitwear\, Sweater Weather String Band blends old-time\, honky-tonk\, Celtic\, and indie rock influences into a style that has been likened to “the frolicking of sheep before a thunderstorm.” Formed from a series of jams and impromptu gigs\, the band quickly developed a wildly danceable sound that’s been heard at festivals\, folk dances\, and bars throughout the Pacific Northwest. \nAndy Bunn \nAndy Bunn is a songwriter living in Bellingham WA who writes character-focused songs. Some of the stories in the songs stick mostly to the facts and some are tall tales. The characters in the stories feel real to him and that’s enough. \nFolk Club shows happen on the first and third Sundays of every month and are all ages! Suggested donation $10-$20 – NOTAFLOF \nDoors 2pm | Music 3pm \nFolk Club Happy Hour 2-3pm!

SUMMARY:Folk Club at The Blue Room featuring | Serafima & the Shakedowns with Mae Powell\, The House Wrens
DESCRIPTION:Serafima & the Shakedowns with Mae Powell \nWith a keen eye for life and love\, Serafima sings about the experience of a modern day woman in all its sparkle and grit. Through reflective hyperbole and honest observation her lyrics dance their way to the front of your heart\, and live in the back of your head. But every pot needs a holder and The Shakedowns know how to distribute the heat. The band brings a unique “un-americana” sound\, electrifying classic elements of The Golden Age of Radio\, honky tonk\, and Russian folk. With an unbridled love for artists like the Grateful Dead and Loretta Lynn\, Serafima & the Shakedowns bring a little sass to the country western world. \nMae Powell is a Bay-area based singer\, songwriter and rainbow entity on a mission to spread love and magic across all dimensions! \nThe House Wrens are fiddler extraordinaire Kera-Lynne Newman with multi instrumentalist Jan Peters\, performing duets of mostly Irish tunes with Fiddle/Guitar\, & Fiddle/Harmonica

SUMMARY:Dirty Dozen Brass Band
DESCRIPTION:Official Website\nThe Lincoln Theatre is honored to host The Dirty Dozen Brass Band! Join us for a Mardi Gras celebration with this legendary New Orleans ensemble! \nCelebrating over 45 years since their founding in 1977\, the Grammy Award-winning New Orleans-based Dirty Dozen Brass Band has taken the traditional foundation of brass band music and incorporated it into a blend of genres\, including bebop jazz\, funk and R&B/soul. This unique sound\, described by the band as a “musical gumbo\,” has allowed the Dirty Dozen to tour across five continents and more than thirty countries\, record twelve studio albums\, and collaborate with a range of artists from Modest Mouse to Widespread Panic to Norah Jones. Forty-five plus years later\, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a world-famous music machine whose name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances. \nIn 1977\, the Dirty Dozen Social Aid and Pleasure Club in New Orleans began showcasing a traditional Crescent City brass band. It was a joining of two proud\, but antiquated\, traditions at the time: social aid and pleasure clubs dated back over a century to a time when black southerners could rarely afford life insurance\, and the clubs would provide proper funeral arrangements. Brass bands — early predecessors of jazz as we know it — would often follow the funeral procession playing somber dirges\, then once the family of the deceased was out of earshot\, burst into jubilant dance tunes as casual onlookers danced in the streets. By the late ’70s\, few of either existed. The Dirty Dozen Social Aid and Pleasure Club decided to assemble this group as a house band\, and over the course of these early gigs\, the seven-member ensemble adopted the venue’s name: The Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Originally from Northwestern Washington\, they’ve toured nationally and spent formative years in the Midwest music scene. Together they craft intricate and experimental harmonies with their two voices\, banjo\, guitar\, and a century-old pump organ. Bad Posture Club invites the listener in to offer warmth and reflection through their original therapeutic soundscape. \nbadpostureclub.net \n* The Shadies *\nBest be fashionably on time to meet and mingle before the main event as Bellingham’s own The Shadies help feed the community sentiment. Proud nerds of obscure fiddle tunes\, forgotten songs from the early twentieth century\, Hawaiian steel guitar melodies\, and classic country favorites. Their old-time sound is an extension of late-night kitchen jams\, impromptu square dances\, festival pilgrimages\, and compulsive woodshedding. Are they a band or just some pals that love to play tunes and sing songs? After almost 20 years\, it’s hard to tell.
