These folks are incredibly talented and capable. \n* Clothing mending includes patches\, button fixes\, pocket holes\, sweater holes\, and more! Please limit your items to one & be prepared to return at a later time. \n* Jewelry repair can include jump ring fixes and minor repairs. \n* Knife sharpening & Pruners. Please limit two items per person & be prepared to return at a later time for we hand-sharpen with whetstones and this is labor-intensive work! \n* Bike repair includes brake checks and basic service. \n* Shoe polishing includes basic shoe polishing and cleanup. \nThis is a volunteer-run event. We’ll fill the waters of Bellingham Bay with kayaks\, mega SUPs (x2!)\, RS Quests\, and keelboats – supported by our talented youth sailors + young staff! \nCome get salty\, enjoy food\, a beer garden\, raffles\, and meet our community partners! Let’s sail into summer while making a difference together! \nWhen: June 20th\, 5:00pm until 9:00pm \nHow to register: \nIf you would like to stay on land register for the Landlubber option starting at 5:00pm \nIf you would like to play on the bay select your preferred time slot and vessel type (register for all 3 sessions if you want to try a few different boats!) \nRegistration is on a sliding scale. Your support will fund our youth programs\, scholarships\, and ensure that our community enrichment programs are free for deserving families. \nLast year\, we delivered nearly 14\,000 hours of youth programming on Bellingham Bay – and we couldn’t do it without our Community Support.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Whatcom Literacy Council for our 29th annual TRIVIA BEE fundraiser on Wednesday\, April 30th from 6:30 pm to 8pm. \nRyan Budds of TRIVIA WITH BUDDS will team up with Scotty VanDryver of KAFE Radio to provide a fast paced and interactive platform for an online trivia night akin to Jeopardy! Register your team (3 people) on our webpage for $75 or just watch for free. Teams compete in four rounds on a variety of topics; this year one of the rounds will be all LOCAL (Whatcom County) trivia!! Winners going home with the traveling “Totten Trophy” and all proceeds go to support the wonderful free adult literacy programs offered by the Whatcom Literacy Council. Because it is a virtual ZOOM event participants can play from anywhere\, with answers submitted via cell phone. \nFor local residents who would like to meet in person Aslan Depot (1322 N State\, Bellingham\, WA) will be showing the event on a big screen\, and supporting the Whatcom Literacy Council by donating $1 for every pint purchased. It is recommended that you arrive around 6pm to find a table and order drinks and food before the game begins at 6:30pm.

DESCRIPTION:The fifth-annual Drive for Joy event\, presented by Lighthouse Mission Ministries\, will collect new and practical gifts for people who are homeless on Saturday\, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Barkley Woods Coffee in Bellingham. \nThis drive-through and drop-off event will be located outside the Barkley Woods (3008 Cinema Place)\, according to President and CEO Hans Erchinger-Davis. Signs will guide people’s cars to the drop-off point in two lines\, with staff and volunteers helping direct people and collecting (new) donated items. \nSome items will be packaged in festive bags and given as gifts by Lighthouse Mission Ministries on Christmas. Extra items will be distributed as part of outreach throughout the year. \nPeople who wish to donate can drive through and drop off emergency blankets and sleeping bags\, hand warmers\, and single serving instant coffee\, cocoa\, and cider packets. Other needed items include underwear\, coats\, toothpaste\, toothbrushes\, deodorant\, hats\, and gloves . New items are requested. \nAlso\, gifts of Christmas cards and postage stamps will enable guests at the Base Camp emergency shelter in Bellingham to reach out to family and friends. \nTo make a donation or volunteer\, call (360) 733-5120\, or visit www.thelighthousemission.org.
