Tony Furtado Trio
McIntyre Hall Presents
Friday, February 3 at 7:30pm
Very few musicians of any stripe so personify a musical genre as completely as Tony Furtado embodies Americana roots music. Tony is an evocative and soulful singer, a wide-ranging songwriter and a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist adept on banjo, cello-banjo, slide guitar and baritone ukulele who mixes and matches sounds and styles with the flair of a master chef (he’s also an accomplished sculptor, but that’s another story). Concert will be in trio format.
“Tony Furtado, banjo player, is back…in a big way! He’s planted his flag in the midst of the fertile ground that is modern banjo. Texturally fresh, confidently audacious, rich and giving, … a masterpiece. ” ~ Tony Trischka
“The devil will eventually want a guitar lesson from Tony Furtado, but he’ll have to wait in line like the rest of us.” ~ Willy Porter
